About me

Hello and welcome! – I’m Sophie. I’m a fully qualified therapeutic counsellor, having gained both a 1st class honours degree (BA) in Counselling, Coaching and Mentoring, and a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. Additional relevant education I've undertaken includes; a Level 5 Certificate in Counselling Children and Young People, a Level 3 in Health Studies, and certificates in Youth Suicide Prevention and Anxiety management.

Additionally, after completing a counselling competence and proficiency test under the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I'm a Registered Member of the BACP.

I've been practicing as a counsellor for five years, counselling adults and young people both in the community and within educational settings.

I also have extensive experience of working with Adults, Young People and Children in various capacities throughout my career.

How can I help?

I can offer specific support and counselling for; Anxiety and Depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, SAD (seasonal affected disorder), Stress, Relationships, Personal development, Loneliness, Decision making, Work-life balance, Improving confidence and Self-esteem, Exploring identity, LGBTQ+ related matters, alongside many other areas of life which may be causing you distress.

What you can expect from me

Within my counselling practice, clients have described me as warm, understanding, positive, helpful, down-to-earth, and 'chill'.

I believe in the sentiment that 'one size does not fit all' and, therefore, I'm trained in, and use various counselling techniques and theories to provide you a bespoke and personal counselling experience, that is tailored individually to you, based on your needs and goals. Therapy with me is predominantly Client-led - that is: I follow your lead as a client, working on what you want to work on at any given point. This is because I deem therapy as the client's space to use however they desire. If you're a client, it is your process and you must have autonomy in our work together. Working in this way allows me to meet your ever changing needs throughout your counselling process.

Counselling offers you an opportunity to have some time to yourself, in a space that is safe, confidential and non-judgemental. Within this space I can help you to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences, to make better sense of your world, and to help you toward a better understanding of yourself and others.
